Snapshot from Cape Cod

For someone like Alex Yeske, it’s all about the visuals. The graphic designer makes the most of even small weekend trips, taking in the sights and scoping out the scenery—New Zealand’s on her dream list, but the more humble jaunts are important too. Case in point: the days she spent this summer checking out her mom’s new place at Cape Cod. Hey, travel begins at home.

  1. Snowy Owl Coffee Roasters coffee and menu. We stopped by this adorable coffee shop in Brewster to get a caffeine fix for our drive up the Cape. It’s connected to an herbal apothecary and has a great patio out front to sit and enjoy your coffee.
  2. Stickers from The Canteen. Our lunch there was by far our favorite meal of the trip. I had the best lobster roll I’ve ever had and we shared the most delicious brussels sprouts.
  3. Sea glass, rocks, and sticks from Coast Guard Beach. On our last night we drove here to watch the sunset and it was one of the most amazing sunsets we’ve ever seen. The sky turned every color of the rainbow and it was so cool to see the colors of the sunset reflecting over the dunes.
  4. Pen from Whitman House Tavern. It’s a quintessential New England tavern with all the clam chowder you could possibly want.
  5. Instax of Kohi Coffee. If you are in Provincetown at the top of the Cape, Kohi Coffee is not to be missed!
  6. Parking stub from the Newport Cliff Walk. On the 4th of July, we left the Cape early and headed South to Newport, RI to spend a few hours walking around. Our favorite area was the Cliff Walk, which meanders behind the famous Newport mansions along the rocky coast.
  7. Instax of High Head Beach. We spent an afternoon there and saw so many seals! I had no idea that seals frequented the Cape, and at one point, we saw a group of over 40!
